Did you know there are over 100 adoptable roads in Forsyth County?
The Adopt-a-Road (AAR) program sponsored by Keep Forsyth County Beautiful enables citizens to demonstrate their community pride by removing unsightly litter that accumulates along our county roadways. Individuals or groups adopt a mile (or more) section of road which they clean-up on a quarterly basis. A minimum 2 year commitment is preferred. Supplies such as gloves, trash bags, and safety vests are provided by KFCB.
Ideal for non-profit organizations, clubs, businesses, scout troops, schools, homeowner associations, or families. The AAR program directly benefits the community through litter reduction and prevention, greater civic involvement, and beautification.
Why adopt a road?
-
It makes a visible positive impact on our local environment
-
It helps build community pride
-
It's an easy to organize group or team building activity
-
It reduces county litter removal costs and saves taxpayers money
-
Public recognition feels good. And encourages others to step-up.
-
It gets you outside and it's a great workout!
The 8 Easy Adopt-A-Road steps:
Step 1 - Review the Adopt-a-Road Rules & Safety.
Step 2 - Contact us regarding the road you’re interested in adopting. If your choice is not available or you don’t have a preference, we'll find you the road best suited for your group.
Step 3 - Once the road is approved by KFCB, sign and return the completed Contract.
Step 4 - Conduct your 1st clean-up and send in a completed Status Report.
Step 5 - Conduct your 2nd clean-up (the next quarter) and send in a completed Status Report.
Step 6 - Once your group has completed your first 2 cleanups over 2 quarters (6 months), we will order your official Adopt-a-Road signs and place them on your roadway.
Step 7 - Maintain your roadway with at least one clean-up per quarter and submit status reports.
Step 8 - Rejoice knowing you are making a difference, perhaps doing your happy dance!
